Consultation
As a new client, a consultation is mandatory. Sometimes health issues mean that you are not able to receive a massage, doctor’s approval is required, or the treatment needs to be tailored especially to your needs.
Information is collected to enable me to have a greater understanding of your lifestyle so that I are able to offer the appropriate homecare advice.
Whilst this information is collected at the first session, at the start of every subsequent session you will always be asked whether there are any changes or new health issues.
An assessment may be performed at the start of your first appointment, depending on the type of massage you require. Together we spend time assessing your posture and how it relates to your lifestyle. For example someone who sits at their desk all day long may have a rounded back. Someone who carries their child on one hip may find that their pelvis is slightly out of alignment. This helps us identify muscular imbalances. Any pain you are experiencing may be referred from another area so massage techniques will be used on both the area of pain and the area of origin.
We then assess your ranges of movement in potential problem areas. For example if you have restricted movement in your neck, I will ask you to move your head in all the possible ranges and will observe lack of movement and note any form of discomfort you may be experiencing.
All this is noted so that your progress can be recorded.
Download a consultation form to save time during your session. We will always go through your form before any treatment commences to check for any health issues which may mean that treatment needs to tailored to your requirements.
