THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE

therapeutic massage

Therapeutic massage is the basis of most massages today. It is the style with which most people identify massage.

Stress today is recognised for having a physical affect on your body. How often to you find yourself hunching your shoulders whilst you sit at your computer or drive your car. This is not a natural posture, yet it is one we adopt. Pain from tight muscles starts to spread as surrounding areas tighten up to support the original area of tension. For example backache often spreads to the shoulders, neck and head. Does this sound familiar?

Tight muscles thicken and shorten and this causes pain. It is a vicious circle.

So how can Therapeutic Massage help?

There are a variety of techniques that are used in therapeutic massage to relax muscles, reduce muscular pain and tension and to promote a sense of wellbeing. These include long strokes towards the heart, circular movements across the muscles, kneading, frictions, stretching and tapotement, a tapping. Movements are designed to relax the muscles, release toxins held in the tissues, increase circulation to remove them.
